Through the first half of 2012 he’s slowly crept back into a humble corner of the scene, re-establishing his presence with the odd freestyle here and there.
Notable moments in his 2012 return have included an appearance on REPVDO and a nostalgic reunion with Royal, Darkboi and DDark for “They Didn’t Wanna Know” (official video on youtube) he cements his intentions to swing it out with the new crop of Grime talent for “I’m Back”.
The comeback single sees Krucial fuelled by a DJ Ironik beat. The airy production reflects the MC’s maturation since the days when he served as a 1Xtra resident in Terror Danjah’s collective.
Krucial Kidd has gone from a hard-headed Grime younger, to an experienced musician who recognises what the scene’s been missing.
“I’m Back” cracks through that gap in the market for some refreshingly forward-thinking music, but with a core which still nods back to the gritty 2005 era.
This is a song which explains the artist’s recent absence as much as it reignites his potential to unsettle today’s front-runners… and this is just the beginning.
And trust me, this really is just the beginning.
